Remco Marcelis

Remco is Chief Financial Officer with Rising Sun Pictures [RSP], a role he has held for the last two years.
Rising Sun Pictures creates world-class computer generated visual effects for feature films and has contributed to over 30 films over the last ten years including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Batman Begins and The Last Samurai. The company is currently working on Superman Returns and a remake of Charlotte’s Web.

RSP has tripled in size during the last two years – growing from 40 employees in 2003/04 to the current team of 120 people. During this period of meteoric success, Remco has had ultimate financial responsibility for managing the growth sustainably and has been responsible for the company’s finance and administration and human resource areas.

Before joining RSP, Remco was an Investment Manager with venture capital firm Playford Capital where he participated in 20 early stage investments worth $25 million in total. He had direct responsibility for six investments, helping raise additional capital from $1m to $4m.

In 2001, Remco was a co-founder of his own startup - Twoeyes Ventures, an entrepreneurial investment
company.

Before these roles Remco worked for 12 years in the IT industry in a variety of finance, technology, e-Business and marketing areas with large scale IT outsourcer EDS and strategic consulting companies Andersen
Consulting and Coopers & Lybrand.
