AIMIA

PRIVACY

At AIMIA, we see the protection of your privacy to be of the highest importance. We do not automatically log personal data/information, nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals.

When you look at our site, our Internet service provider (ISP) makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • your server address
  • the date and time of your visit to the site
  • the pages accessed and documents you downloaded
  • the site that directed or referred you to us eg. a search engine
  • the type of browser you used
  • our top-level domain name (eg. .com, .au, .gov, .uk etc)

All visits to the AIMIA website use ‘Cookies’.

An HTTP cookie—commonly referred to as just "cookie"—is a parcel of text sent back and forth between a web browser and the server it accesses. Its original purpose was to provide a state management mechanism between a web browser and a web server. Without a cookie (or a similar solution), a web server cannot distinguish between different users, or determine any relationship between sequential page visits made by the same user. For this reason, cookies are used to differentiate one user from another and to pass information from page to page during a single user's website session. A web server uses cookies to collect data about a given browser, along with the information requested and sent by the browser's operator (the visitor). Cookies do not identify people, but rather they are defined themselves by a combination of a computer, a user account, and a browser.

AIMIA uses cookies in order to provide meaningful reports about our site visitors. However, AIMIA does not collect personal data about our website visitors. The type of information AIMIA obtains by using cookies are to determine visitor sessions, identify unique visitors, tracking traffic Sources & navigation.

No attempt will be made to identify you or your browsing activity except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may produce a warrant to inspect our ISP's logs.

We will only record your email address or other details you provide if you send us a message to request more information, when using our contact form or when registered for one of our events (eg. our Annual Awards).

Your details will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided them and will never be added to any mailing list (other than ours). We will not use or disclose them to anyone without your consent.

Our Privacy Policy and our approach to privacy adheres to the Australian Government's National Privacy Principles contained within the Privacy Act.

If you have a question about our Privacy Policy, or would like to gain access to information we might hold about you, please contact us at info(at)aimia.com.au.

You can obtain more information on Australia's approach to privacy from the Australian Privacy Commissioner's website.
