Melbourne and Sydney, as recognised global design cities, feature both local and international design activity, and the shortlisted entries in both Design Awards programs represent an annual snapshot of the sophisticated design culture in the marketplace.

This years' program gives an opportunity for professional designers, design commissioners and brand managers to have their design works recognised.

Entry process

All entries are submitted online. The earlier submissions are completed, the more exposure they will get. All entries, once shortlisted, are published on the website and go into the Australian Design Collection. They are also featured at the monthly networking events.

The next possible stages of recognition are becoming a finalist and winner. Being a shortlisted entrant, finalist or winner of the Design Awards provides powerful marketing opportunities for you to publicise your work; on cv's, bios, email signatures and websites.

Entries close in July.

Assessment process

Voting is open to both the public and the design industry which uniquely allow consumers of design a voice in the voting process.

Finalist and category winners in the 2012 Design Awards will be determined by a combination of a judging panel, industry and public votes – by the average score across all three respective votes. This ensures that the Awards showcase the best of the design industry as determined by the market, industry and the panel.

The finalists in the 2012 Design Awards will be the top 5 entries in each category and the winner of each category will be announced at the 2012 Design Awards Night.

Finalists will be announced in August and winners will be announced at the Awards Nights in September.
