CANADIAN PRIVATE SALE PHENOMENON HEADED FOR SYDNEY EXCLUSIVELY TO SPEAK AT THE ONLINE RETAILER CONFERENCE & E-COMMERCE EXPO

26 July 2011 | Sydney

  • 1,150% year-on-year growth!
  • US$76 million in sales – just in Canada!
  • 2.5 million members in 2 years!

It’s the online retail story of the year! Canadian-based private sale site Beyond the Rack has blown its competitors away to be the fastest-growing online retail business in the world. The company’s Co-Founder and CEO, Yona Shtern, is heading to Australia exclusively to speak at the Online Retailer Conference & E-Commerce Expo in Sydney, September 26-29.

Online private sale is already a billion dollar plus industry in North America and growing fast. Beyond The Rack found a way to differentiate its offering from other US competitors like Gilt Groupe and Rue La La, increasing sales by 1,150 percent year-on-year, growing its member base to more than 2.5 million members and taking over US$76 million in sales for 2010.

By providing a wide selection of merchandise from over 3000 brand partners and ensuring the site provides a ‘pleasurable shopping experience’ to customers, the private shopping club has managed to raise more than US$12 million in funding in its two-year lifespan.

Shtern will deliver exclusive insights into this amazing growth story and share his thoughts on how local businesses can tap into the infinite potential of not only private sales, but also broader e-commerce strategies.

The Online Retailer Conference and E-Commerce Expo, to be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, will offer Australian retailers unparalleled insights and learning, including keynotes from other world-reowned retail brands, such as Walmart, ASOS and Tesco.com.

Set over four days and including strategic workshops, learning sessions, peer-to-peer roundtables, and networking events, the conference offers retail executives’ unique learning opportunities and the chance to leverage the collective knowledge of the e-retailing community.

With online retail sales projected to grow to $33.3 billion by 2015 and Australian consumers becoming ever savvier, the Online Retailer Conference and E-Commerce Expo 2011 aims to escalate the knowledge and expertise within the local retail industry.
